The EU and
Egypt celebrate closure of the Twinning Project "Strengthening NAQAAE
institutional capacity to improve education" with partners

Cairo -- The
Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Egypt and the National Authority for
Quality Assurance and Accreditation (NAQAAE) celebrate the closure of the
twinning project "Strengthening NAQAAE institutional capacity with a view
to improving accreditation and quality assurance education system" funded
by the EU and implemented by Finland and Germany under the auspices of the
Ministry of International Cooperation. The EU allocated EUR 1.3 million to fund
the project.
The twinning
project started in 2013 and sought to strengthen the institutional and
technical capacity of the NAQAAE, the national authority in charge of education
accreditation and quality assurance. More specifically, the knowledge exchange
between Egyptian, Finnish, and German experts aimed at:
)i) Reviewing the operational
functioning and the management structure of NAQAAE to strengthen the
organisation to implement the accreditation and quality assurance, to
coordinate and support stakeholders in achieving quality standards, and be
actively part of international networks and Agencies of Quality Assurance
Institutions.
)ii) Aligning NAQAAE quality assurance
processes and accreditation procedures with international standards.
(iii) Assessing the regulatory
framework of NAQAAE and drafting a strategy to further link the Egyptian
accreditation and quality assurance to European standards and best practices.
The closing
ceremony will include Senior representatives of NAQAAE, the Ministry of
Technical Education and Training, the Programme Administration Office of the
Support to the Association Agreement programme, the EU Delegation, German
Embassy, and Finnish Embassy to Egypt.
