The European
Union and Egypt announce the results of large Technical Assistance in the field
of Gas Regulation Reform

The European
Union (EU) Delegation to Egypt is organizing the first kick-off event for
Natural Gas Market and Regulation Reform in coordination with the Ministry of
Petroleum and the Egyptian Holding Company, (EGAS). The event is organized
under the Technical Assistance to Support the Reform of the Energy Sector in
Egypt (TARES) as part of the Energy Sector Policy Support Program (SPSP). This
comes in the framework of the energy sector policy reform (60 million Euros)
signed between the EU and Egypt in 2012.The Event is
a unique occasion for public and private stakeholders, European policy makers
and regulators, gas industry players, in the country or those who are recently
introduced to it, in addition to infrastructure and energy international
investors. This is to raise awareness regarding the impending reforms of
Egypt’s gas market, business opportunities and challenges associated with it.
The results
of the large technical assistance to Egypt in the field of gas regulation will
be announced in the event, in addition to discussions regarding the gas market
– which will be subject to an innovative approach - under new legislation and
regulations – to allow market entry for organizations, managed by a new independent
Gas Regulatory
Authority based on , non-discriminatory and transparent pricing
rules and procedures. This is to ensure better quality Of service
and ultimately, more choices for customers in Egypt through a competitive
approach.
The
panellists are His Excellency (H.E Minister of Petroleum, Sherif Ismail, H.E.
Ambassador James Moran, Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt, the
Vice Chairman of the Regulator
Affairs at EGAS, a representative of the IOCs operating in Egypt, a speaker
from, private investment company, and a
representative of the European Regulators. The Event is Organized under the
auspices of the European Union and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources,
and Heads of the Petroleum and Gas Companies in Intercontinental City Stars on Thursday,
13 August 2015 at 5 p.m.
