Ambassador James Moran Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt reiterated that the European Union is committed to work together with all partners on sustainable solutions to tackle the situation of irregular migration and refugees all of us are currently facing., adding that this month the EU proposed to establish an emergency Trust Fund, starting with €1.8 Billion Euros to address the crises in the Sahel and Lake Chad regions, the Horn of Africa, and the North of Africa. "We want to help create lasting stability and thereby address the root causes of destabilisation, forced displacement and illegal migration. For this endeavour we naturally count on your continuing cooperation", he said. Moran noted that since the beginning of the year, nearly 500,000 people have made their way to Europe. For the EU, this is the biggest refugee crisis since the end of the Second World War.

Moran remarks came during a workshop on Unaccompanied Migrant Children-and EU funded protection project. The EU has contributed with two million Euros of the total 2.5 million allocated to this protection project. The workshop was with the National Coordinating Committee on Preventing and Combating Illegal Migration (NCCPIM) and International Organization of Migration IOM as the implementing partner.
