“WORRY DOLLS”
By: Adel Shalaby
February 2014 and South
Coast’s finest “Worry Dolls” are gearing to take UK …and further, by storm!!
Huddled in a cold South Coast studio waiting to commence filming for their
debut video, Emma turned to a friend & said “It’s been three years in the
making & now we’re ready to take it to the next level” A statement echoed
by local press & media alike.
Feisty, energetic, highly talented and
driven to write music that compares with their hero’s, the song writing trio of
Emma Baldry, Martin Sloyan & Jon Kearley are the creative heartbeat of
“Worry Dolls” and in Emma the band has a vocalist that could send a house
crashing to the floor with one chorus.
Formed in April 2011th band spent their
subsequent years honing their craft, writing, tirelessly gigging and creating a
debut album, “The Man That Time Forgot”
that can live up to the hype surrounding the Bournemouth band. “The Man
That Time Forgot” is a twelve track debut that consists of some tremendous
cross-over, radio friendly tracks from the driving tunes “Backwire”, “Barry
McGuigan”, “Picnic Of Feardouche”, to
the more melodic such as”Irish”, “Waster”
& the title track, that has the potential to become a classic.
“We wanna write original music, we wanna
take what’s great about Rock ‘n Roll, mix it with Folk, maybe some Blues &
Soul and see what happens” Emma explains casually. The result is one of the
most exciting breakthrough acts for 2014 who refuse all labels and define
themselves “Campfire Rock”. BUT it is as a live band “Worry Dolls” really come
alive and thrive!! With bags of attitude, energy and swagger plus no small
helping of talent “Worry Dolls” shine on stages big & small from 02
Bournemouth to China White’s London and it’s with these live shows they have
attracted a large loyal following and captivated local media.
On release (Nov 2013) “The Man That Time
Forgot” reached #4 in Amazon Folk/Rock charts, plus #21 on Rock chart. The
debut single a stunning, unique version
of “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds” (
April 2014) achieved a similar chart position of #4 in Amazon New Release
chart, with accompanying video continuing to receive massive hits on YouTube.
“Dolls” have just performed a 3 track live
session for “BBC Introducing South”. Apart from gig & festival list
increasing weekly they are undertaking a “House Invasion” Tour of South Coast
thru the summer, where they will be performing for free in a fan’s lounge
&/or garden.
It’s that great word “Development”, &
“Worry Dolls” are developing into a band both live & recording with
longevity potential internationally .
