European Union (EU) with (KfW) & EIB jointly with
the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable
Energy in Gulf of El Zayt in Egypt.

The European
Union (EU), the Federal Republic of Germany through Kreditanstalt für
Wiederaufbau (KfW), and the European Investment Bank (EIB) jointly with the
Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy will inaugurate today the largest
windfarm in Africa in Gulf of El Zayt in Egypt. H.E. Dr. Mohamed Shaker
Elmarkabi, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Ambassador James
Moran, Head of the EU Delegation to Egypt and Ambassador Julius Georg Luy of
Germany will jointly inaugurate the wind farm in Gulf of ElZayt.
The windfarm
project generates up to 800 GW per year, which is sufficient to supply around
500,000 people with electricity and contributes to prevent 400,000 tons of
Carbon Dioxide emissions per year. The total budget of the project amounts to
340 million Euros where the EU has granted a total of 30 Million Euros of the
total project's budget.
